Lyrics:
Wasting my time
Resting my mind
And I'll never pine for the sad days and the bad days
When we was working from nine to five
And if you don't mind
I'll spend my time
Here by the fireside
In the warm light of the love in her eyes

And if you don't mind
I'll spend my time
Here by the fireside
In the warm light of the love in her eyes

Lead vocals: Roger Waters
Trumpet: Roger Waters

A rare but great track, Biding My Time had previously been part of The Man suite, under the title of Work. It's a bluesy piece which starts out mellow and builds up to an instrumental finale in which the band really rocks out, Rick's piano and Dave's scorching guitar in fine form — and Roger even takes a trumpet solo! The lyrics don't seem very important here, merely touching on the feeling of having left one's working days behind (something it doesn't seem Roger will ever do) and settling into domestic bliss. This song, recorded at the end of the Ummagumma sessions, remained unreleased for almost two years, until its release as part of the Relics compilation. All the rest of the songs on the album had been previously released.

This was the last track produced by Norman Smith.

  1. As far as I know, the solo (which is a trombone, not a trumpet) was performed by Rick Wright, who is reportedly known for being able to play brass (see "Summer '68")....
