Goodbye Blue Sky

Goodbye Blue Sky 2:45
     (written by Roger Waters)

Lyrics:
Look mummy, there's an aeroplane up in the sky.
Oh (3x)
Did (4x) you see the frightened ones?
Did (4x) you hear the falling bombs?
Did (4x) you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter
When the promise of a brave new world
Unfurled beneath the clear blue sky?
Did (4x) you see the frightened ones?
Did (4x) you hear the falling bombs
The flames are all long gone
But the pain lingers on
Goodbye blue sky (2x)
Goodbye (2x)

. . . Newcastle is now approaching.
Last call for the 750.
The 11:15 arrival from Newcastle . . .

This piece reflects the loss of innocence felt as the boy grows into a man, and sets off into the world. Roger has referred to the song as "a recap of side one." Its imagery is certainly not specific to the narrative.

Roger: "It's remembering one's childhood and then getting ready to set off into the rest of one's life."
