Waiting For The Worms (Wall film)

Waiting For The Worms 2:30
     (written by Roger Waters)

Lyrics:
Ein, zwei, drei...

You cannot reach me now
No matter how you try
Goodbye cruel world, it's over
Walk on by

We have orders to convene at 1:16 outside Brixton Town Hall where we will be going...
Waiting
To cut out the deadwood
Waiting
To weed out the weaklings
Waiting
To smash in their windows and kick in their doors
Waiting
For the final solution to strengthen the strain
Waiting
To follow the Worms

Would you like to see Britannia
...Would you like to see us
Rule again, my friend?
All you need to do is follow the Worms

And when we convene at Brixton Bus Station, we'll be moving along about 12 o'clock down Stockwell Road. And then towards the... into the Abbot's Road and we're... and when it's twelve minutes to three we move along Lambeth Road towards Vauxhall Bridge. Now when we get to the other side of Vauxhall Bridge we're in Westminster area. It's quite possible we may encounter some Jewboys... by the way we go. Now evils have been known to...
Hammer! (30x)
Ham—
STOP!

This is a heavily remixed version of the album track which removes some of the most controversial and 'offensive' lyrics of the original. Bob Geldof shouts 'stop' at the end. This song shows Pink and his Hammer Guard crusading through the streets of London for their fascist cause, and clashing with bystanders and police.

Alan Parker comments on an additional representation of societal violence that didn't make the final cut of the film: "They'd also tried to film some faked up football violence at Watford ground, recreating a stabbing incident that had actually happened at a European Cup match a short time before, but the resultant footage didn't stand comparison with the real thing seen by millions of viewers of their TV screens, so most of it was junked. A short segment can be seen in the Waiting for the Worms sequence, if you look carefully." [Dallas 127-128]
